White  gesso is a flat acrylic liquid primer used to prepare canvases and also used in Wildlife painting. If you are using an inexpensive canvas, adding an extra coat of this white gesso will keep the canvas from absorbing the oil paint too quickly. This water-based paint should be applied very thinly with a foam applicator (NOT A BRUSH) and allowed to dry completely before starting your painting.
